Citizens Concerned with Highway Expansion

Get involved today

There are many ways you can get involved in the movement to oppose the #1 Highway expansion. Take a moment to make your voice heard on this issue. Here are a few ways to get started.

The Provincial Government has recently announced the first three months of its "public consultation" (actually, a series of open houses).  Attend, distribute brochures, make your concerns known!  Details are up on our events calendar.  Contact us if you would like more information.

  • The consultation plan and open house times and places are detailed at: click here (it's a pdf file).
  • The project definition report and other info can be found at: click here (takes you to a website).

We are now strategizing about what our next steps will be, post-election.  A three-pronged approach is being schemed up with activities focused at pressuring the municipal, provincial and federal governments to STOP the #1 Hwy Expansion, LOOK at alternatives and LISTEN to citizens.   Sign up on-line or contact us at for more information.

Are you part of a community group that would like more information on this issue?  Please be in touch to set up a meeting - we are keen to spread the word about how this highway expansion will affect our community and our region.  Call 604-708-0777, or e-mail
